Whether or not you want to be a bassist who plays chords, I still recommend going through this series. Believe it or not, I lean more towards the “purist” side of bass playing – meaning that I much prefer someone who can hold down the groove over an acrobat that can play a million notes per minute and solo and play chord melodies and whatnot. However, when I started studying these chord voicings my understanding of the fingerboard exploded and my ability to see how each chord relates to the next is monumental for my playing style now. Enjoy this 13-lesson, unexpected (at least for me!) journey!
